‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’ to vie at Italian Salento fest

Iranian feature film ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’ has found its way to the Salento International Film Festival in Italy.

Directed by Javad Daraee, the film is in the competition program of the Italian fest’s 19th run.

‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’ will race with films from Italy, Poland, Armenia, the US, Switzerland and Germany.

The movie is about Shadi. She was a small child when her parents were accused of murdering a girl and later killed by the village residents. 

She was, then, adopted by her uncle and grew up. Shadi must now face the problems that the village residents have caused.

The cast list includes Fariba Talebi, Saeed Ahmadi, Fariba Torkashvand, Farahnaz Manafi-Zaher, Foujan Ahmadi, Mahshid Khosravi, Iman Sarraf, Arezou Balali-Dehkordi, Sarina Yousefi, Mohammad Eqlimi, Amir-Abbas Ghazaee, and Avin Kouhzadeh.

The film has already been screened at a number of global events, including the International film festival Cyprus and the Efebo d’oro International Cinema and Narrative Award in Italy.

The event aims to promote films from around the world in order to be a link between cultures.

The 2022 edition of the event runs from September 6-11.
